David William Pope, Jr., 85, of East Bridgewater, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 29, 2018 at the West Acres Nursing Home in Brockton.

David leaves behind his daughters, Catherine Leger and her husband Denis of Bridgewater, Dorothy Pope of Delaware, Mary Towle and her husband Gerry of Taunton, Margaret Tufts and her husband Glenn of Bridgewater and Martha Pope Ingram of Duxbury; his companion, Anna Child of West Bridgewater and his former wife Meredith (Bangs) Pope of Brockton; his grandchildren, Phillip Leger, Gregory Leger, Ryan Tufts, Julianne Tufts, Lauren Towle, Kelsey Towle, Meghan Gentile and Nate Ingram; his twin sister, Dorothy Burke of Southwick, Connie Kuliesh of Brockton and William Pope of West Bridgewater; he is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late David William Pope, III. And Patrick Doyle Pope and brother of the late Barbara Ball.

A veteran of the United States Air Force during the Korean War, David played the trumpet and French horn in the Air Force Band while stationed in Wichita Falls, Texas.

A devoted father, David worked for many years at the Armstrong Corp. and Jerry Miller Shoe. He owned and operated the Home Café in Brockton and eventually went on to work for Massasoit Community College in the maintenance department for several years.

During his retirement, David loved to travel, play golf, work in his garden, tend to his chickens and visit many clubs and organizations he belonged to. He was a member of the Bertocci Club, French Club, Conti Memorial Club, Polish White Eagles, Elks, Vet’s Club, Samoset Rod & Gun Club and the American Legion. His time was spent enjoying the company of his family and friends.
