Obituary for Matthew "Matty" Wayne Kierstead

Matthew Wayne “Matty” Kierstead, 28, of Taunton, passed away, after fighting a long, hard battle with drug addiction. Sadly, his battle ended on July 29, 2018 surrounded by his family and friends. Our family lost a son, a brother, a grandson, an uncle, a cousin, and a nephew. God gained an angel who had always been strong and who always fought hard.

Born November 5, 1989 in Stoughton, he was the beloved son of Stephen W. Kierstead and Jacqueline A. (Marble) Kierstead of Taunton and Renea A. Kierstead of FL. Raised in Taunton he attended Taunton and Middleboro schools, earning his diploma.

Matty loved the New England Patriots and especially enjoyed watching them alongside his father and other family members. He was a true man of the North. Matthew enjoyed playing NHL and it brought him a lot of laughter whenever he would win against his Dad. You would often catch Matt quoting lines from movies like nobody’s business. He enjoyed teasing and wrestling with his niece and nephew.

Matthew loved his family, he even said, “I don’t have any friends all I have is family.” A majority of the time he especially enjoyed tormenting his three sisters. He liked to play football in the house and have pillow fights with his sister, breaking their parents lamp and trying to replace it before they returned home.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sisters and brothers, Stephanie M. (Kierstead) Bosse and her husband Michael, Rebekah N. Kierstead, Gabrielle C. Kierstead, Jason Prairie and Michael Burns; his grandparents, Linda Crossley, Roland (Bill) Crossley (preceded)
and Lucille (Marble) Vidoli; his niece and nephew, Gavin and Hallie. Along with numerous, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Matt, you’ve touched so many of us. Seeing every one of us come together for you, the way we did, was truly amazing. We know you’re in a better place now, you’re at peace, you’re at home, and there is no more pain or hurt. Please watch over our family.

Calling hours Thursday, August 2nd from 2:00 to 5:00PM in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 441 So. Main St.,(Rt.28) West Bridgewater. Prayer service at 5:00PM. Interment will be private.
