Obituary for Cleo Jackson

Cleo Marguerite Jackson began her earthly life’s journey when she was born on January 27, 1918 in Brockton, Massachusetts. Her parents were Ernest Jackson and Lilian (Bullock) Jackson. On Wednesday, July 4, 2018, God dispatched his Angels from Heaven to welcome Cleo Marguerite Jackson to her new home. She joined the angels with a smile on her face and joy in her heart because her life journey here on earth ended and her eternal stay in Heaven began. She was at peace after quietly passing away in her sleep. She was one of four children.

Cleo grew up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with her father Ernest and step-mother Louise Jackson. After graduating from the Philadelphia Public School System Cleo moved to New York City and lived with her mother for a few years. She worked with her mother in the garment industry. Her maternal grandmother, Molly Bullock told her that if she got tired of New York City, she could come to live with her in Brockton. Sure enough, New York City proved to be too big for Cleo. She took Grandma Mollie’s advice and came back to Brockton when she was in her early twenties. She and Grandma were an inseparable team.

Cleo joined Grandma Mollie in attending the Messiah Baptist Church where she has been a member over seventy years. Cleo worked with various organizations in the Church and was especially proud of being on the Building Committee for the new sanctuary as well as being a founding member of the Messiah Jubilee Federal Credit Union.

Cleo retired from Raytheon where she worked over thirty years. She loved travelling and had gone on many cruises to the Caribbean Islands and Alaska. Her many travels also took her to Hawaii and Aruba. Most of all, she enjoyed fine dining and sharing a delicious meal with friends. She dined at many restaurants in the Greater Brockton and Boston areas.

Cleo leaves to mourn her passing her nephew Eldon Keith Robinson and his wife Kathleen Gordon Robinson of Grasonville, MD; Cousin Josephine McDaniel and her son Raymond McDaniel of Philadelphia, PA; Cousin Joanne Spann and her daughter Sharon Spann Padon and her grandson Derek Padon II of Cumberland, RI; nieces, nephews, and a host of special friends including Julia Townsend, Rev. Anna Anderson, Jerry and Emogene Smith, Robert and Donna Cabral, Seymour and Audrey Sbrinik, Carolyn Rawls, Shirley Cosgrove and Linda Shannon. She adored Rev. Michael Wayne Walker.

Cleo was preceded in death by her parents Ernest Jackson, Lillie Jackson Scott, step-
mother Louise Jackson; sister Connie Robinson; brothers Malcolm Jackson and James Jackson.

Cleo Marguerite Jackson enjoyed a good life here on earth but her faith and belief in God assured her that there was a much better place for her. She is gone from us in body but she lives on with us in spirit. To God be the glory.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at 10:00AM at the Messiah Baptist Church, 80 Legion Parkway, Brockton. Interment will follow in Melrose Cemetery, Brockton. Calling hours prior to the service from 9:00 to 10:00AM in the CHURCH.
