Online Obituaries

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of John Francis Kelliher.  He  passed away on the morning of August 4, 2016 at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton, following a period of failing health.  He was the dedicated and loving husband of Marion (Brasill) Kelliher for 53 years.

Born in Brockton, John was the son of the late Raymond and Josephine (Murphy) Kelliher, and was a proud lifelong resident of the city.  He was a graduate of Brockton High School and Bentley School of Accounting & Finance.  John served honorably in the United States Army.

John was a faithful member of his church and enjoyed serving others, and was a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus.  He was an avid sports fan and relished spirited discussions about his favorite teams.  John initiated many thoughtful and thought provoking conversations, usually with some humor, about current events.  His perspective on a variety of subjects always left you with something to remember or ponder.

Prior to retiring, John served as an accountant in various capacities for multiple companies, including, but not limited to, The Gillette Company, State Street Bank & Trust, and the Newton Bank.  Additionally, he taught evening accounting classes for a period at the Brockton Business School.

Left to cherish John's memory are his children: Sean and his wife, Louanne of West Wareham, Kevin and his wife, Abby of Quincy, Noreen and her fiancé, Mark Zachem of Brockton, and Jerome and his former wife, Fern MacDonald of Belle Isle, FL.  Fitzie, as he was known by his grandchildren, will be greatly missed by Grace, Keith, Charlotte and Liam.  They were a great source of joy to him.  John was the brother of Richard Kelliher and his wife Janice of Bridgewater. John is also survived by his in-laws, Arthur and Margie Brasill, June Brasill and Melvin Haddad, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Catherine Donnelly, Raymond Kelliher and Maryrose Haddad.

He will be forever missed and remembered.
