Online Obituaries

Morva Hilaire passed away on Monday, July 24th,  2017 after a strong battle with cancer. She was born on December 24th, 1976 to Marie L. Hilaire and Yves Chery in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti.  She was the first born for her mother, who moved to the United States in the early eighties in search of a better life.  Morva, who was left in the care of her aunt (godmother) Carole Hilaire would join her mother in the US when she was about 8 years old.  She grew up in Salem with her mom and stepdad Frantz Berthaud and her siblings Mayerling, Sahadia, Frantz and Christina Berthaud.

She was a devoted wife to her husband of 13 years, Evans Thevenin and together they share a daughter, Gabriella and a son, Noah. Her kids were her greatest accomplishments in life.  After graduating Salem High School in 1995, Morva spent a year at Salem State University then transferred to Northeastern University, where she earned her Bachelor in Human Services in 2001.  She always knew she was destined to help others and decided to go back to school to become a nurse. She received her BSN degree from Salem State University in 2007.  She spent 6 years working as a Registered Nurse at Good Samaritan in Brockton until she joined Pathways Healthcare, where she worked as a visiting nurse up until October of 2016 after taking a medical leave to undergo her treatment. Even after Morva was diagnosed and started her treatment she kept working because she cared so much for her patients.

Morva was a very spiritual person with an undeniable faith in God. She always had a listening ear, and to those who truly knew her she was a wise counselor who loved to laugh.  Even when the disease started getting the best of her, she would always say “I’m ok” and just kept on laughing.  She enjoyed relaxing by the water or spending a day at the spa. She also loved reading, especially Spiritual books and listening to songs of worship. She was a faithful member of Jubilee Christian Church and enjoyed praying and going to bible study.

She will be missed by many, especially, her husband Evans and her two beautiful kids, Gabby and Noah, her mother Marie L Hilaire, stepdad Frantz, her mother in-law Simone Verelien , Noah’s godparents Kemmy Christophe and Alix Thevenin, her sibilings, Mayerling, Frantz, Christina and Sahadia Bethaud, Marie-Yves and Fritz Millien, Ricardo Cesar, Jacques Chery and Marlene. Her cousins, Edwin Pierre and his wife Nensa, Medjine and Fritz Hilaire, Maghan and Geoffrey Baptiste, Bria Dejean and Stephanie Nelson-Strong. She will be especially missed by her brother in-law Fritzner and cousin Marie-Ange to whom she was like a sister.  Her aunts Carole, Margarette, and Armelle (Fifi) Hilaire and her uncle Hebert Dejean are also going to miss her dearly. She leaves to mourn her loss many families, like the Hilaire, Berthaud, Thevenin, Dejean, Millien, Chery, Pierre, Cesar, Verelien, Nelson, and many siblings, cousins, in-laws, friends, co-workers, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
