Dr. Francis Freccero, of Brockton, a dedicated Physician in Brockton for the past fifty years died on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 after a period of failing health. He was the husband of Beverly (McGrath) Freccero.

Born in Lawrence, he was the son of the late Bernard and Enis (Campanini) Freccero. He moved to Brockton at an early age with his family. He attended local schools and graduated from Coyle High School in Taunton in 1952. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Boston College in 1956 and received his MD Degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine in 1960. He completed his post graduate training at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Boston.

He served in the United States Army as a Medical Officer with the Eighth Army in Korea and completed his military service at Valley Forge Hospital in Pennsylvania.

He returned to Brockton where he established his medical practice.

Dr. Freccero-Board Certified Family Practitioner was joined by his son, Edward, in 1996 and the practice still continues as Freccero Medical Associates in Brockton.

Dr. Freccero had served on the City of Brockton's Board of Health for many years as Board Member and has served as Board Chairman since 1994.

Dr. Freccero had been an active member of the Medical Staff at Brockton Hospital. He served on several committees over the years. He was also a member of the Medical Staff at Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center. He also served as Medical Director at West Acres Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Brockton.

He was a member of the Mass. Medical Society, The American Medical Association and American Academy of Family Physicians.
He was a delegate of the Mass. Medical Society Council.

In 2001, he received an award as Clinician of the Year by the Plymouth District of the MASS Medical Society. In December of 2012, Dr. Freccero was inducted into the "Ring of Champions" from Signature Health Care in Brockton for his 49 years of service to the Brockton Community.

Besides his wife, Beverly, Dr. Freccero leaves his son Edward Freccero, MD and his wife Charlene of Bridgewater, James Freccero of Brockton, Ann Nardelli and her husband Brian of Brockton and Gina Phipps and her husband Thayer of Byfield; his brother, Robert Freccero, DDS and his wife Mary Lou of Duxbury as well as his grandchildren, Ava, Anthony and Stephen Nardelli, Matthew and Mark Freccero, Hannah, Ryan and Harrison Phipps; dear friend of Marie O'Connor; he is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Information

A funeral mass will be celebrated for the repose of his soul on Saturday, September 7th at 10:30AM in St. Edward Church/St. Edith Stein Parish, 71 East Main St., Brockton. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Brockton. Calling hours in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home Friday 3:00-8:00PM.
