Helen A. (Vose) Bosen
November 21, 1920 - August 03, 2017
Helen Anastasia (Vose) Bosen, 96, of Franklin, passed away on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at the Wingate at Norton Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late Lewis T. Bosen, D.M.D.
Born November 21, 1920 in Brockton to Greek immigrants Arthur Bourdousis Vose and Anastasia (Ziavras) Vose. Helen was a graduate of Brockton High, class of 1938, and the Brockton Business College in 1939.
She studied oil painting under several notable artists from Brockton and the South Shore, becoming an accomplished artist herself as the recipient of many ribbons in juried art shows throughout the greater Brockton area over much of her life. After a ten-year hiatus, she had just recently pulled out the easel and oils to go at it yet again at the age of 96.
As a young woman, she helped her parents run Vose's market next to the family homestead at the corner of Pleasant Street and Wheeler Ave. For most of her adult life she was a housewife and artist and remained active in the both the Brockton and Cape Cod Greek Orthodox communities and local art guilds. Two of her proudest accomplishments were designing her own house on Elm View Terrace in the 60's, and assisting her sister, Phyllis "Pamela" Duval, to decorate the East Room of the White House at the invitation of Rosalyn Carter.
Helen is survived by her son, Attorney Theodore Bosen and his wife Barbara, of Berlin, NH, her daughter, Cherie Perdikis and her husband James, of Norton; her grandchildren, Athanasios and Calliope Bosen, Christian and Alexander Perdikis; her brothers, James Vose of Cranston, RI and John Vose of Berlin, NH, sisters-in-law Calliope Vose and Carole Bosen, and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her sisters Jane Skouras, Mary Waitkus, Phyllis Duval, Sarah Pappas, and brothers George, Louis, and Christy Vose.
Funeral Services will be held in the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 457 Oak St., Brockton on Wednesday, August 9th at 11:00AM. Interment to follow in the Melrose Cemetery, Brockton.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church or St. George's Greek Orthodox Church of Cape Cod, 1130 Falmouth Rd, Centerville, MA 02632.
