John Patrick Reiley

John Patrick Reiley, 69, of West Bridgewater, died peacefully on Veteran’s Day, Saturday, November 11, 2017, surrounded by his family. He was the husband of 45 years to Gerry (Norris) Reiley.
Born July 29, 1948 in Plainfield, New Jersey, he was the oldest of the three children of the late John James Reiley and Hannah (Sargent) Reiley. Raised in Scotch Plains, New Jersey, he attended St. Bartholomew the Apostle School; he then graduated in 1966 from the first graduating class of Union Catholic Regional High School.
John served as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force where he served in Tripoli, Libya and Pleiku, Vietnam in 1969. He was a staunch advocate for the Vietnam Veteran’s rights.
John worked for the Union County Sheriff’s Office in New Jersey before moving to Massachusetts and then worked for the MDC/State Police for several years before retiring. He was one of the original members of the Auto Theft Task Force in Boston.
John was also an Avid Red Sox fan, much to the chagrin of his New Jersey family and friends!
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Theresa and her husband Ryan Frederick of Dorchester and Moira Collins of Pembroke; his sister, Maureen (Reiley) Kreger of Scotch Plains, NJ; his granddaughter, Adeline Jane Frederick; he is also survived by many loving brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. He was the Father of the late John James Reiley and Brother of the late Eileen (Reiley) Schwarzenbek.
Funeral services will be held in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 441 South Main St., (RT28) WEST BRIDGEWATER on Wednesday, November 15th at 11:00AM. Interment will follow in the VA National Cemetery, Bourne at 1:15PM. Calling hours in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, WEST BRIDGEWATER on Tuesday from 4:00-8:00PM.
