Online Obituaries

Jean Helena Sutton (Rose), 72, of W. Bridgewater, formerly of Berkeley and Taunton, MA. passed away Wednesday, May 17th, 2017 after a brave fight against illness. She passed into the Lord’s care with her devoted husband by her side.

Jean came from a very large family—the daughter of Frank Rose and Julia Furmanik, Jean was one of fourteen children born to them. Raised on the family farm in Berkeley, MA, Jean had very fond memories growing up with her brothers—Frances Jr., John, Edward, James, Richard, Robert, David and Larry; and her sisters—Lillian Rose, Irene Rosa, Marilyn Pascal, Cyn Kay and Elaine Sullivan. Given the large family, Jean also had many dear brother and sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews all of whom she love

Jean was married to John Henry Sutton on May 22, 1965. They had two children, a son and a daughter; Robert P Sutton and his wife Juliana Sutton (Bacon); and Stephanie R Furzland (Sutton) and her husband Matthew Furzland.

Jean enjoyed many trips to Niagara Falls and Buffalo, NY to visit with her in-laws and John’s siblings. She enjoyed day trips to Plymouth and Onset, MA and loved a warm, sunny day at the beach. Jean attended church regularly with her husband and was an active member in the church community, helping her husband with church dinners and outings. Jean was an avid reader and gardener. She also enjoyed cooking, baking and loved a good yard sale!

In her later years, Jean’s biggest pride and joy were her granddaughters Fiona and Leila, with whom she spent many days helping to raise. She shared with the little girls her love of gardening and baking. She read to them often and enjoyed many snuggles on the couch. She never grew tired of talking about how special and funny her granddaughters are and they lit up her later years as only small children can.

Jean was so very proud of her family, her children and grandchildren and will be missed by many. Jean was her family’s biggest supporter and dedicated her life to raising her family. Her sharp wit and half smile were unparalleled; her brave, fighting spirit will be remembered by all.
