Christine Sophia Karavites, 77, of Quincy, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 19, 2017 after a long battle with cancer.  She was the beloved wife of Peter Karavites.

Born September 15, 1939 in Muskegon, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late William Chonis and Anna (Mavraidis) Chonis.

Christine lived a life devoted to the Orthodox faith.  She served on the Board of Trustees of Hellenic College Holy Cross, the National Philoptochos Board and Saint Basil’s Academy.  Christine’s life-long commitment to helping others and her tenacious spirit will be missed greatly.

Christine is survived by her devoted husband, Peter Karavites; her daughter, Kalliope Micalizzi and her husband David; her son, Themistocles Karavites and his wife Emilija; her beloved granddaughters, Kristina Sophia Micalizzi and Athena Wren Karavites; her sister, Helen Innis Lutz.  Christine was the sister of the late Gus Chonis and Pauline Stavros.

 

Funeral Information

Funeral services will be held in the Hellenic College Holy Cross Chapel, 50 Goddard Avenue, Brookline on Thursday, March 23rd at 11:00AM.  Interment will follow in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.  Calling hours in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., (RT123) BROCKTON on Wednesday from 5:00-8:00PM. 

Donations Information

 In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Saint Basil’s Academy, 79 Saint Basil’s Rd., Garrison, NY 10524.
