Idalina Fernandes, 91, of Brockton, passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2017 under the care of her family and hospice after a period of failing health. She was the wife of the late Augusto DeBarros.
Born December 20, 1925 in Fogo, Cape Verde, she was a daughter of the late Jose M. Xavier and Elvira Fernandes. Some of Idalina’s hobbies were cooking, dancing and listening to her music. She liked to play dominos and Uri. She could always be found telling stories to her family. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with all of her grandchildren and family.
She is survived by her children, Olivio DeBarros, Lindo DeBarros, Manuel DeBarros, Anildo DeBarros, Antonio DeBarros, Antonia DeBarros, Ildo DeBarros, Julio DeBarros, Joao DeBarros and Ernestina DeBarros; her 68 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and her 6 great-great-grandchildren and several cousins, nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Olivia DeBarros.
Funeral from the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., (Rt.123) Brockton on Monday, March 13th at 9:00AM followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Edith Stein Parish, 71 East Main St., Brockton at 10:00AM. Interment to follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Brockton. Calling hours Sunday in the funeral home from 4:00 to 8:00PM
