Christina (Deftos) Juris, of Brockton, passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2017 with her beloved husband, John L. Juris, at her side.
A longtime resident of Brockton, Christina graduated from Brockton High School. She was employed by Blue Cross/Blue Shield in Boston for 36 years where she served as a supervisor of The Interplan Bank Unit for over 25 years.
She was predeceased by her father, Peter Deftos; her mother, Calliope (Kitsatis) Deftos; her brother, William Deftos and his wife Lena; her sister, Rhodanthe Giannaros and her husband Stavros and her brother Alex; her nephew Christos Giannaros.
She was so proud of her Greek heritage and was a parishioner of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Brockton. For many years she was a dedicated member of the Annunciation Ladies Philoptochos Society. She enjoyed many years of traveling with her husband. Christina was a great cook and baker and loved to entertain her many friends and relatives. You could always count on Christina to offer her support and to be there for all happy and sad occasions. Also, she loved to be in the company of children of all ages, and they loved her back.
She is survived by John, her loving and devoted husband of nearly 60 years; her sister, Penelope Pappas of Philadelphia, PA; her nephew, Peter Deftos and his wife Sylvia of Kissimmee, FL; her niece, Carol (Deftos) Demetriades and her husband Thomas of Howell, NJ; her nephew, Paul Giannaros of Ormond Beach, FL; her niece, Linda Valanzano and her husband Richard of Philadelphia, PA; her niece, Paige Bednarsky and her husband Alex of Philadelphia, PA; her nephew, Philip of Philadelphia, PA; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Charles and Athanasia Juris of Nashua, NH; her nephew and Godson, Louis Juris and his wife Sherrie of Nashua, NH; her nephew, William Juris and his wife Annie of Nashua, NH; her niece-in-law, Arlene Giannaros of Easton; she is also survived by several Godchildren, great nieces and nephews and many friends. All loved her very much.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the Hellenic Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, their staff and caregivers, who provided her with dedicated care, support and kindness.
Funeral from the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., (Rt123) Brockton on Friday, May 12th at 10:00AM followed by a funeral service in the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 457 Oak St., Brockton at 11:00AM. Interment will follow in Melrose Cemetery, Brockton. Calling hours in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home Thursday 4:00-7:00PM.
