George Leo "Tam" Thompson

George Leo Thompson, the oldest son of the late George B. and Leona A. Thompson, was born on June 13,1936 in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He resided in Bridgewater, MA, and was a lifetime member of the St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church in Cambridge, MA. He departed this life on September 8, 2017.
George graduated from Cambridge High and Latin School. He was employed at Delta Airlines as a SkyCap for 26 years, and was a dedicated employee of Cambridge Rindge and Latin High School for 42 years. After retirement, George enjoyed working part-time at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. George did not have many hobbies, but in his spare time he loved watching and attending sports events with family and friends.
To many, George was also known as “Tam”. He will be truly missed by all who loved and knew him, as he was a devoted and generous husband, father, grandfather, and friend who gave himself wholeheartedly to everyone.
George was preceded in death by his parents, George B. Thompson, Leona A. Thompson, and his brother Alvin E. Thompson. He leaves to mourn his wife Mary S. Thompson of 52 years, daughters, Susan D. Thompson and Stephanie A. Thompson, grandchildren, Brittany A. Thompson, Alicia M. McCaffrey, and Lauren A. McCaffrey, great grandchildren, Miaya A. Jones, Elijah M. CruzMcCaffrey, Zanylah M. Parham, and Sariyah A. Thompson, godchildren, David Wright, Allison Saunders, and Corey Hutson, Andrew Gibson, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
The family wishes to express heartfelt appreciation to the Caregivers: Darlene, Denise, Joanne, Tamarah, Kara, Martine, Katie, Fiona, and the Hospice Team.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 15th at 11:00AM in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 441 South Main St., (Rt.28) WEST BRIDGEWATER. Interment will follow in the Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00AM.
