The origin of the Russell & Pica Funeral Home dates back to 1900 when the McGlinchey Funeral Home at 446 Main Street was established. In 1933, Francis J. Russell, a lifelong Brockton resident, became a licensed funeral director and joined the McGlinchey Funeral Home. In 1943, Mr. Russell moved the McGlinchey & Russell Funeral Home to its present location, 165 Belmont Street. This home was the former residence of Charles Eaton, a well known shoe manufacturer who started his first shoe factory in 1876 and built his family home in 1895.
In 1960, David F. Russell received his Massachusetts Funeral Director's license and joined his father in supplying quality funeral care to the residents of Brockton. In 1963, Frances Russell died suddenly. His son continues his father's legacy of providing excellent care to the families who placed their trust in the Russell name.
In 1986, David F. Russell, Jr. began his apprenticeship in the funeral business and became a licensed funeral director in 1993. Following the path set by his father and grandfather, David Jr. is committed to providing compassionate and personalized service to all families.
In 1999, the Russell Funeral Home added a spacious addition to become the largest funeral facility in the greater Brockton area.
In 2004, George J. Pica, of the Joseph J. Pica & Son Funeral Home, merged with the Russell Funeral Home to become the Russell & Pica Funeral Home. George's father, Joseph, started the Joseph J. Pica & Son Funeral Home in 1946. George became a licensed funeral director in 1964. His father died in 1996. The Russell Family and the Pica Family have been friends professionally and socially for many years. The two families have always had great trust in one another and share a common goal of wanting to serve people in their time of funeral need with the sincerest care and professionalism.
The Russell & Pica Funeral Home is a family owned and operated funeral service provider. We are proudly independent from any funeral home corporation. We strongly believe that families we serve benefit from family ownership. Our first and foremost priority is each individual family.
